ACL Injury Prevention Program

ACL Injury Prevention Program

As a part of his research at Columbia University, Chris Margallo has gained extensive knowledge on the subject of ACL injuries on adolescent athletes. After puberty, research has shown ACL injuries are 8 times more likely in girls than boys. This is due to a multitude of reasons, but improper neuromuscular firing patterns have been found as the major factor. This program identifies these abnormal muscle-firing patterns through video analysis of box jump landings, strength testing, and functional movement screens. Although the focus of this program is on adolescent athletes, it is appropriate for all ages. This program is customized for each athlete and usually lasts six weeks in length.
